Help With Finding Your Perfect Home
Written by: Remington Joseph
This likely won’t come as a surprise to anyone who has tried it before, but searching for the home that’s perfect for you can be a massive undertaking. With so many different factors to consider, it can sometimes feel overwhelming just figuring out which angle to approach it from. What makes a home a good fit for you? While there can be a million different answers to this question, there are a few things worth looking into first that should help to narrow down your search by a bit. Here are some helpful tips to help guide you in the right direction to finding your perfect home.
Location Is Everything
This almost goes without saying, but when it comes to real estate, location is everything. Regardless of what home you decide to buy, there’s a good chance that if there’s something you truly dislike about it, it can be changed for a price. Location unfortunately is not one of those things. This means that depending on your lifestyle, there are different advantages and disadvantages that you’ll need to consider. Do you have kids? If you do, there’s a good chance you won’t want them to have to travel too far in order to get to school. Do you have access to a car? If not, you’ll want to live somewhere that puts you within range of public transportation, or somewhere that has enough of your amenities within walking distance. Without a doubt, the location of your home is going to have the greatest impact on your daily life, making it something that you need to place a good amount of thought into.
The Right Amount Of Space
Your dream home is one that you’re likely going to spend the majority of your life in. If it’s one that you’ve been working towards for a long time already, it can be especially disheartening to find out that your belongings turn that home into a cluttered, possibly unlivable mess. Making sure that the home you choose is large enough to store all your belongings is not only a great way to save you the cost of needing to replace furniture, but it will help you bring the level of comfort you want from your home much faster. A home that’s spacious enough to hold your cherished belongings can go a long way when it comes to personalizing the “dream” aspect of your dream home.
The Wonders Of Natural Lighting
The natural lighting of a home isn’t something that a lot of people take into consideration when purchasing a home, creating issues later down the road. Similar to the location of a home, natural lighting isn’t something that we can entirely control, and although it won’t impact you quite as severely, bad lighting can have a negative effect on your quality of life. If you’re someone who loves waking up early to the sun as it rises, living in a home with natural lighting of a dungeon likely won’t allow for something like that. It isn’t something that can always be accounted for, but scheduling a tour of the home during the day is highly recommended to get a sense of the natural lighting you’ll be working with.
The Overall Condition
Regardless of how good a home looks, it will be a lot less impressive when you find out that it’s going to cost you a few extra thousands in repair costs. While we ALWAYS recommend hiring a home inspector to check out a property before you’ve made a purchase, hiring an inspector for every home you visit isn’t the most cost effective way to do things. On a basic level, you can always check out the kitchen and bathroom for yourself to make sure that the hot water is running, and no immediate repairs are needed. This will never take the place of having a proper inspection done, but you should at least be able to spot any immediate red flags.
Everyone’s perfect home is going to be different, but the best way to find yours is to start taking inventory of your life in order to figure out which needs are required to be met. The truth is that you likely won’t find a home that has everything you’ve ever wanted, but if you can check off most of the boxes, there’s a good chance that you’ll be satisfied. Don’t be afraid to take your time however, and search for what makes you truly happy.
